Northampton University 2009/10

Here is a selection of some of the work I did in my first year of my Journalism course at the University of Northampton (2009/2010).  ENJOY!

I was asked to try my hand at photography and take five pictures, that didn’t have to be connected/related to one another.  Each photo had to tell a story, like the phrase ‘Every picture tells a story!’
Here are my five attempts at photography, with a caption underneath each photograph, to describe what the photo story is.
1

TEXT LOVE: This individual can't tell his 'special one' the true feelings they have via a face-to-face conversation. A simple text message is the easier route....
2

NATURE'S BEAUTY: The green, beautiful trees on a bright, sunny Spring morning. Someone likes their nature...
3

DVD ACE: A collection of DVD's, plenty of home entertainment here, but does this mean that there is no social lifestyle?
4

CUTE PUPPY: A puppy mascot, in dedication for Comic Relief. This brings both comfort and a charitable lifestyle.
5

WATER!: Three glasses of water, the perfect cure to clear the mind, from what was bound to be a wild night!

At the beginning of 2010, we were asked to produce a video on a hotly-debated topic in recent years, The Credit Crunch.
Here is a 90 second video on how students are dealing with The Credit Crunch, how it is/is not affecting them and have they had to make changes to their lifestyle.
Featuring Simon Wright (me), Emily Shears and Miles Aitkenhead.

Later in the year, we did a group TV project, focusing on an area of Northampton.  Our report is about the possibility of Northampton Lift Tower being turned into a possible tourist attraction.

With the General Election approaching in May 2010, the debates and policies have throughout the election campaign were hotly contested.  One of these was a surge of increase in Petrol Prices.  Along with fellow Journalism student Ellie Birmingham, we put together a couple of audio clips of student opinions on the Petrol Prices scenario.
Below is the shorter, 50second cutaway version
Back in late 2009, I was asked to produce an eight-page magazine, featuring two adverts, a main piece and an editorial leader.  See below for the final link…
